Sandy Lake

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!

Check out some photos from the trip below!!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and celebrated Mother's Day with yo' momma because you know she deserves all the love in the world! I was going to post a blog post on Friday, but my family and I went away for the weekend to Sandy Lake. I cannot tell you how good it feels just to let go of your technology (mainly social media) for a few days. You get to focus in on yourself, and the people around you and no one is more important to you than family.

My family and I packed the boat and two cars and headed up north to McGregor, MN to Sandy Lake it was spectacular and let me start off by saying some of you who know me know that I love to camp. And no I don't mean in an RV (not that there is anything wrong with that) but there is something magical about sleeping in a tent it, it takes you back to simpler times, like when you were a child and the world was exciting and fascinating and you didn't have the worries of emails, and job interviews, and getting more clients, etc.  At least for me, it puts me at ease it makes me happy. The first night was a bit rough, the wind was howling, and it was cold. I mean I have camped in the snow, and this was close to how cold I was then, not to mention I've been fighting off a nasty cold since last week, so it was not ideal for me. The second day was a lot better. Dad woke up earlier than all of us, like usual, and went fishing off the dock. I was the last one to get out of bed; we had breakfast and went out fishing. Yes, I fish, and this time I enjoyed, I know that must surprise a few of you as I have been very vocal about my distaste for it in the past, but I enjoyed myself, more the casting of the fishing line then actually catching fish but hey to each their own. As the day wound down, we retreated to the campsite and made our way to a restaurant called "Zorbaz" which has fantastic margaritas, just a heads up to my fellow marg lovers. We filled our very hungry stomachs and then went back to the camp to enjoy some coffee and enjoy the fire before turning in.

The third day was by far the best and most interesting. I woke up late and by that I mean nine o'clock everyone was waiting for me to help pack up, Dad went off fishing well Jeff, Mom and I broke down most of the campsite. We then headed down the lake and enjoyed the sun; we had signal in a few spots, so we were able to get in contact with our Grans and wish them a happy mother's day. Jeff fished today, and I did for just a bit but I was really into my book, and I don't get enough time to sit and read as I do try to keep myself busy, so it was quite relaxing. Dad caught the most, mainly Northen Pike as they seemed to be very hungry that day. We ended the day at Zorbaz again then made our way home. Sandy Lake holds some great memories, other than the tick we found on Jeff and the many spiders that were around the campsite (and yes it was funny to watch Jeff find them, I've never seen him run so fast... haha). All in all, it was a good weekend and an amazing place to get back to oneself.

Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Good vibes to all,

Josh
