Working w/ Twiggs Salon
Working w/ Twiggs Salon
For the last two weeks, I had the unique opportunity to work with Twiggs Salon in Wayzata, MN. Twiggs is owned and run by the marvellous Shauna Raisch, she is an artist - she has fantastic ideas, and with the help of her team, they can make her dreams a reality. Doing hair and makeup is not as easy as it looks but this fantastic crew poured their hearts and souls into this project, and I am so happy to have been a part of it.
This particular project, which I like to call Project Look-alike, was all about taking ordinary people and turning them into their favourite celebrities. To do this Shauna and her incredible team used hair extensions by Hair Dreams. The extensions themselves are super lightweight and versatile. They will help you complete any hairstyle that you are looking for, and they look and feel entirely natural, the best part is that they are unnoticeable to people who don't know you are wearing them. For more information on the extensions used, I have put the video link of the Twiggs segment on The Jason Show.
The first look: Chrissy Teigen
The first look that Twiggs did was Chrissy Teigen, "one of the reasons we chose this look was because it is super easy to duplicate and it is a really easy style to get for anyone who wants hair extensions or has their own long hair." We had three looks for the model, Kailey, two red carpets, one I shot the night of the photo shoot and one for the live show and then a street look. For both the looks I shot, David (master hairstylist) used the extensions and to complete the look he used a root touch up by Oribe to give the illusion of darker roots and really pulled the look together.
The second look: Kim Kardashian (Brunette)
We had two different models for Kim K, one was Kim with brown hair, and the other Kim was blonde, and then they coloured her hair pink, but we will get back to that later on. For the Kim K with brown hair they had, Emme. She had one of the most outfit changes out of the girls. For the shoot, we had three looks, Kim's classic denim jacket with a Calvin Klien bra and leggings, then we changed it up a bit to a red leather jacket, then switched again to a fluffy pink feather coat, this was the look they went with for the live show. All the hair is Hair Dreams extensions; they added ten packs of hair extensions that are tape-ins then they put little tiny extensions on the side which allows Emme to move the hair up and wear ponytails without the extensions showing.
The third look: Sarah Jessica Parker
This look was a complete overhaul, the model they selected Nicole used to work with Shauna. "Nicole has twins, and she hasn't done anything with her hair since having them, they are now five." The same look we shot the night of the shoot was the same look they did for the TV show. What did they do? Well, they used the Hair Dreams Laser Beamer Nano gun for some of the extensions along with tape-ins, a Brazilian blowout. To see the before look make sure you watch the video on this page, you will be amazed!
The fourth and final look: Kim K (Blonde and Pink)
This look was probably the most interesting look of all. The night before the photoshoot a few of the hairstylists were there till one in the morning perfecting Emily's new platinum look. For this Kim K look-alike, she had four different looks as well as a hair change in the middle of the shoot. We had a gold dress look, and then we mixed it with a cheetah print coat, then we had a blue plunged neckline dress, the classic Kim K just a blazer look and last but not least we added the final edgy look a black cocktail dress with a leather jacket with a bedazzled back pattern. In between the shoots, the model's hair went from pin straight to slight beach waves looks to Kim's infamous pink look with subtle beach waves. This truly showed the versatility of the hair extensions and the pure talent of all the workers Shauna picked to work on this project.
Last thing:
I got my hair done by one of the stylists Evan, and I am very picky about who does my hair, I have gone to only one person since I have moved to Minnesota. To say the least, I was nervous, but he did a fantastic job, and I loved that he was able to see what I wanted and kept the style I had going and perfected it. That day I got complimented so much on my hair and recommended the salon to them as I am doing to you now. Below I have the links to their website and Instagram - let them change you into your favourite celebrity, or even get yourself and a little touch-up. We all deserve to treat ourselves to go out and do just that!
Good Vibes to all
